5 reasons to work with a video production company for internal training videos

As a construction company, your biggest goal is making sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day. You’re probably also focused on optimizing for billable hours.

Believe it or not, an internal training video can meet both of these goals!

A video can easily train new hires on safety procedures while freeing up time for team members usually tasked with teaching.

Win, win!

If you ever considered filming a training video in-house, you know how tedious it can be - from finding the best candidate for the training to editing all of your footage (which can be a daunting task). This is where hiring professionals definitely has its perks.

Here are some advantages of hiring a video production company for your construction training videos.

You can “edutain” new hires

Just like your team has unique skills to get the job done, so do we.

Most corporate video production companies have the experience and equipment to create videos that drive home the story. In this case, the importance of safety and how to work well together on an active job site in a way that gets everyone home at quitting time.

High-quality training videos can “edutain” (educate and entertain) your employees, teaching them how to be safe around the equipment and machinery they use and operate daily.\

Your training won’t be boring

How tuned in were you at the last safety meeting? We’ve attended our fair share partnering with construction companies. Sometimes safety meetings are great, don’t get us wrong. But a lot of times…well, I’m sure you know.

But what if you could do safety training differently?

What if team members left feeling inspired?

An outsider’s perspective can tap into your industry knowledge and develop innovative concepts and approaches for your training videos. This approach can help your training stand out and communicate how workers are expected to work together on your team.

You can prioritize billable projects

Producing videos in-house can be time-consuming. It can also take busy employees away from your core construction projects.

Outsourcing this task to a video production company can free up billable hours while you and your team can focus on delivering exceptional work.

Your training videos can be used repeatedly!

Evergreen content, like an internal training video, can be used for years.

If you have multiple training sessions, your video library can serve as a valuable resource for bringing new employees up to speed. It can even update the skills of your existing workforce as your construction company grows. Which means it can be a…

You’ll get a better return on investment (ROI)

Investing in professional video production might seem costly at first.

But how many times a year are you onboarding new hires? When you take into account how often you use the finished product, the long-term benefits quickly outweigh the investment.

Especially if you’re a growing company.

Think of it this way:

Instead of having one person constantly training new staff, you can have a series of training video become the company mouthpiece for you.

This frees up staff members tasked with onboarding to do other projects that move the company forward, saving a ton of man-hours; having high-quality construction training videos can reduce training time and allow team members to work on billable projects that make your company money.

In conclusion, partnering with a professional video production company for your construction training videos is a smart decision that offers numerous advantages.

It can free up team members time, enhance billable hours, build employee engagement, streamline and improve safety practices.

What is a marketing strategy?

A marketing strategy is your north star. An easy-to-reference document that keeps you and your team on track.

In the simplest of terms, a marketing strategy is:

1. Doing the right things
2. In the right order
3. At the right time
4. For the right people

That’s really it.

Think of it as your north star. It outlines your brand as a whole, including your business goals, mission, vision, and values. It also needs to have a decent amount of information on who your dream customer is and how you’re going to reach them.

A good marketing strategy will match business goals with step-by-step marketing tactics to crush those goals. It should also take into account what customers are focused on during different seasons (or quarters).

Unless you’re a major organization, you’re probably not looking for a massive 30-page odyssey. Most small businesses can get away with a one-sheet Lean Canvas model or a 6-10 page condensed marketing strategy.

Whether you add in the PESTLE and SWOT analysis is up to you.

All that to say, marketing strategies just need to be quick reference points that keep your team on track.

When creating a strategy, always start with your customer. Know who they are, what they care about and what their current purchasing behaviour is.

Start with your customer.

Outline your company details and brand messaging that speaks directly to the problem you are solving for them.

Sprinkle in your business goals.

Lay out the tactics that help you crush them.

This is just the simplified version, but there’s actually a lot more baked into that pie. So, stick around for more tips.

Alternatively, if creating a marketing strategy is one of your business goals, we can help you build one.

Until next time,
